Usually you can find one at a thrift store for cheap, I got one not to long ago for like 3 bucks

I’m glad to hear that they’re not too expensive.

That is an extremely special bond you have Melon, then <3

She’s the brightest spot in my life :)

I believe you can add, a sorta two step ladder to help her get up to your bed

I’ve been discussing about getting one with my Grandi for the past little while, if I can’t pick one up I’m honestly just going to make one myself.

My cat Melon sleeps next to my head every night.

Because Melon is getting older, she’s starting to have trouble jumping up on to my bed so she can sleep on her pillow.

She’s been able to make it up on to the bed with some difficulty for the past while, (sometimes she’ll sort of ‘climb’ the mattress, miss a jump, or hops in one place) but usually I’ll just lift her and help her up on to the bed myself.

I woke up today, and Melon wasn’t sleeping next to me like usual.

I look over, and Melon has fallen asleep on the hardwood floor next to my bed. She couldn’t make it up on the bed on her own, but she was determined to sleep next to me as best as she could.

I’m torn between thinking it’s cute, and wanting to cry.

I realize I mentioned writing more about the piece when I posted these, but now I can’t for the life of me remember what it was I wanted to say.

Watership Down was one of the first novels I read as a child, probably at 10 or 12. I saw the animated film soon after, and it’s clear to me that both the book and the movie made an indelible impression on me. I reread the book every two or three years, and it hasn’t lost any of its power or impact. Most of all, I’m enthralled by the rich stories the rabbits share with one another throughout the novel. My love for mythology was certainly encouraged by reading WSD as a child.

Thanks for the wonderful response to this piece so far, you amazing folks!

Materials and dimensions and all that other good stuff can be found on the turnaround photoset that’s posted on my Tumblr, right below this post.
